J.A. Seidman, Thami Mnyele, silkscreen, Gaborone 1985

Thamsanqa kaMnyele ("Thami") was Medu's best-known graphic artist, and an ANC activist and MK cadre. He was killed in the June 14th raid on Gaborone. This poster was done by Judy Seidman in commemoration after the raid; the quote comes from Thami's opening speech to the Gaborone Culture and Resistance Festival in 1982.

Thami was buried in Gaborone in 1985; in 2004 he was reburied with full honours in a hero's funeral in his home town of Tembisa, near Johannesburg.

This image was used in the poster for the Thami Mnyele + Medu Exhbition held in the Johannesburg Art Gallery in 2009.
